Actress Lee Ji Ah has spoken up about the controversy surrounding her grandfather, the late Kim Soon Heung, a pro-Japanese collaborator.
On February 21, Lee Ji Ah released a statement through her agency, BH Entertainment, to set things straight and apologize for the delay in informing her position.
Although I have been cautious and deliberating for a long time, I now believe it is right to take responsibility and correct the facts, even at this late stage. So, though it is difficult, I gather the courage to speak out.

She also emphasized that the information spread online was incorrect.
“However, there was a spread of incorrect information on online communities and in comments, claiming that I said I “respect my grandfather.” This is not true, and I would like to correct it.
Finally, I deeply recognize the historical mistakes of my grandfather and sincerely apologize as his descendant. I will continue to approach the truth of history with a humble attitude and live with a sense of responsibility.”
